miles for Miles

Well, Miles is finally living up to his name with a recent roadtrip to Albany.

Miles headed out on his inaugural road trip accompanied by Kimberly and Sissy. The whole crew drove down to Albany to visit Grandmama. Miles is undecided about road travel. Although he likes getting to hang out with people, the whole moving vehicle thing seems slightly overrated. His preferred place seems to be wedged under the driver's seat...

But, at least he was relatively quiet, things are looking up for the cross-country drive!

AND, more importantly, he was a smash hit with Grandmama. She offered to keep him, suggested that we forget to take him home, and generally gushed about how fabulous he is. How right she is!

Well, there are a lot more miles in Miles' future.

Oh my... the death continues

Well, the saga of the fish community gets sadder and sadder. Alas, during a water change last week, several more fish died. They fought hard, and swam upside down for a while, but eventually succumbed.

We are sadded by the continuing loss in the tank. It's pretty lonely in there...

sleeping with the fishes

alas, one of the fishes is no longer. Angelfish had been looking funny for a few days, but seemed to be better. I guess "better" was an illusion. This morning she was face down in the gravel, not moving or breathing. So sad.

She was a good angelfish . She laid lots of eggs and jealously guarded them, until she ate them. She liked to nip at the frog. She was very pretty, lots of orange and black and silver. She was the alpha-female of the tank.

I will miss watching her.

I wish things wouldn't die.

[Edit 4:34 p.m.: Not a good day for the fish tank community: our dear, super aggressive, "kill-all-the-other-pretty-fish" black fan tail guppy was found face first in the plants this afternoon. He was only with us a short time, but his killing of most of our other small fish will live on in our memories - PEter]

He is so _not_ excited about the impending move to the middle. About the only thing he hates in life is having to go into his crate.

the quiet after the storm

It's amazing how quiet it gets when the term ends... no calls, no students, no Boss... just the faint hum of the computer and the loud crashing of the construction outside.

This is, um, a test

So this is a blog that Peter and Kimberly are starting.

The main point of this blog is to inform our families and friends of what we're up to, since we'll be in the middle of the country, over a thousand miles from anyone we know. We're currently planning the move, with a short vacation in the middle to recuperate from the working life and to prepare for the school life.

I wouldn't expect to find anything funny, or life-altering, or even interesting, on this blog, if you don't know us, or even if you do. In fact, I'm still a little ambivalent when it comes to the internets. Although, I am a big fan of the Googles, mostly for the maps.
