On a personal level, I've been talking with my Chinese office mate about both Tibet and Taiwan recently. Although we clearly don't see eye to eye on these issues, we've been able to discuss the cultural issues implicit in both the Chinese actions and the Western nations' response to it. We're learning a lot about each other.
